HOME Italia always grows and aims high.
Among the excellences that have joined our exclusive club there is now also Poltrona Frau.
Founded in Turin in 1912 by Renzo Frau, Poltrona Frau is synonymous with excellence known throughout the world. From the initial production of “in style” furniture, Frau almost immediately moved onto the production of his own furniture. Among the first models, still produced today and already considered timeless icons, there are the Vanity Fair armchair (formerly 904) and the Chester tufted sofa.
Strongly immersed in the culture of the time, Poltrona Frau creations furnished theatrical sets, private homes, the major transatlantic liners and the largest hotels. In the ’30s Poltrona Frau was the official supplier of the “Royal House” of Savoy; in 1932 it made the furniture for the Italian Parliament. The rise of Poltrona Frau continued unabated after the war, when to design for the brand they were masters such as Gio Ponti (Dezza armchair), Achille and Pier Giacomo Castilgioni (San Luca armchair), Pierluigi Cerri (Ouverture sofa).

The company proudly states: “Each new project opened up new challenges, each new challenge required different responses in terms of raw materials, processing and technologies. We have always innovated, experimented, risked too. Because moving around and testing is the only way to stay in shape.”
In 1962 the company was moved to Tolentino, in an area of the Marche famous for the artisanal processing of leather, whose techniques are handed down – literally – from father to son. A forward-looking choice for the brand that has made “leathership” one of its major strengths. The neologism fully describes the wisdom in the use of leather by Poltrona Frau, a natural material that the company is able to work in a variety of almost infinite solutions: in fact, the Pelle Frau catalogue includes 181 different colours and textures!

In 2004 the Poltrona Frau Group was founded, which today includes the Cassina and Cappellini brands and is unquestionably the leading reference for top-level furniture on a global scale.
In 2012, on the occasion of the centenary of its foundation, Poltrona Frau opened its own company museum. Designed by Michele De Lucchi, it is an unmissable place to discover the history of this all-Italian excellence.
We at HOME Italia are really pleased to have opened the doors to Poltrona Frau and we are sure that our collaboration will be pleasant and full of successes!
