I Saloni WorldWide Moscow 2016
The 2016 edition of the Saloni WorldWide Moscow was testament to a strong reversal of the negative trend. Meetings between professional operators and exhibiting countries were both numerous and profitable, confirming the event’s driving role in Russia and the former Soviet Republics.
The twelfth edition of the Saloni WorldWide Moscow, which closed last Saturday at Moscow’s Crocus Expo exhibition centre, proved yet again to be the leading high quality furnishing and accessories specialist exhibition held in Russia. The event, organised by Federlegno Arredo Eventi in partnership with ICE – the Italian Trade Agency, notched up more than 30,000 attendees over the four days.
“The 300 or so companies involved in the fair had the opportunity to make contact with skilled operators keenly interested in establishing commercial ties geared to promoting high quality furnishing across a market that remains of primary importance, despite the challenging economic situation”, said Salone del Mobile. Milano President Roberto Snaidero.
“Russia is still the leading developing market for Italian furnishing and will retain pole position as far as imports of high end furnishing are concerned. I have held meetings with key figures in the Russian political and financial world with a view to consolidating our presence in this wonderful country, and have set up agreements that will ensure increasingly favourable conditions for Italian companies keen to invest in this great market over the next few years.”
Director of the Moscow branch of ICE – the Italian Trade Agency Pier Paolo Celeste was equally optimistic about the future: “By taking part in the fair, the 300 or so companies who continue to invest in the Russian market notwithstanding the difficulties the country is having to contend with, have demonstrated the kind of foresight that will ensure they are in a privileged position once the economy begins to pick up again. Positive signals have already been relayed by the delegates invited by ICE, no less than 101 from 18 cities in Russia and Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, who have placed a large number of orders, ensuing from the 2,500 appointments arranged over the four days of the Saloni.”
Luciano Colombo, proprietor of Annibale Colombo, was among those keen to embrace the challenge and had this to say: “This year’s edition underscored Russia’s strong potential for recovery and growth, and the number of high end contacts only serves to confirm the likelihood of this being achieved”. Distributor Anthony Grande of the same company added: “We are pleased with this year’s edition, which saw the participation of a large number of visitors from the regions and from the former Soviet Republics. This can only be a good sign.”
