Scuola Italiana Design proposes the theme of Social Eater for ACLI, in the Ventura Lambrate district. The goal is to address the theme of sharing from an educational and social perspective. The language of food is blended with concepts of the social in order to turn the perception of space and collectivity on its head. The usefulness of sharing knowledge, culture and information through the camaraderie that springs from food is Scuola Italiana Design’s focus during Milano Design Week 2016.
The project is born from the hacking of a model kitchen and its accessories that are all currently produced by the Callesella company. This starting point, together with the guidelines that emerged from the workshop in which the students of Scuola Italiana Design all took part, has given life to two features that are wildly distinct but still remain deeply bound together: a kitchen and a travelling module. The kitchen, the focus point of the space dedicated to show cooking and designed by Scuola Italiana Design for the Social Eater event, acts as a meeting place for visitors and becomes a “playful” part for the entire event. The travelling module is the satellite space where the visitor’s attention is guided toward the area set up by the ACLI Lambrate association. This acts as meeting point, outdoor kitchen and provocation for the “socialeaters” who visit the exhibition.
Sharing, companionship, modularity, simplicity, interaction, warmth, and family are the foundational values of the project and these values are expressed through its two components.
